With the constant change in business advising, the journey can sometimes feel like a solitary one. As advisors and business coaches, we often find ourselves navigating complex challenges and uncertainties on behalf of our clients, striving to provide the best guidance and support possible. However, I’ve come to realize that having a coaching community to lean on can make all the difference in the world. In this blog post, I want to share my personal perspective on the importance of having a coaching community to support your efforts.
One of the most significant benefits of being part of a coaching community is the sense of camaraderie and connection it provides. As business coaches, we understand the unique challenges and pressures that come with the territory. Being able to connect with peers who share similar experiences, training, and perspectives can be incredibly reassuring and validating.
I’ve found immense value in being able to exchange ideas, share best practices, and seek advice from fellow advisors in my coaching community. Whether it’s through daily meetings and Slack conversations like I have or online forums, networking events, or informal meetups, having a supportive community to turn to has helped me navigate difficult situations with greater confidence and clarity. It has also provided me with a competitive advantage, as I can tell my clients I have an entire coaching community I can rely on for insights and advice that I can then relay to them.
Another advantage is the opportunity to gain fresh perspectives and innovative options. No matter how experienced or knowledgeable we may be, there’s always something new to learn from others. Engaging with diverse voices and viewpoints within our coaching community can spark creativity, challenge assumptions, and inspire innovative approaches to problem-solving.
I’ve had countless “aha” moments during discussions with fellow advisors in my coaching community. Whether it’s a different interpretation of a client challenge or a novel solution to a common problem, these insights have enriched my own practice and expanded my repertoire of tools and techniques.
The journey of a business coach can be fraught with uncertainty and even self-doubt. There are times when we question our abilities or feel overwhelmed by the demands of our work. During these moments, having a coaching community to provide support and encouragement can be invaluable.
I’ve experienced firsthand the power of receiving a word of encouragement or a virtual pat on the back from fellow advisors in my coaching community. Knowing that others understand and empathize with my struggles has given me the strength to persevere during challenging times. Whether it’s celebrating successes, offering words of wisdom, or simply lending a listening ear, the support of my coaching community has been invaluable in times of need.
Finally, being part of a coaching community is essential for fostering growth and development. Continuous learning and professional development are integral to staying relevant and effective in our field. By engaging with our coaching community, we have access to a wealth of knowledge, resources, and opportunities for growth.
I’ve participated in workshops, training sessions, and mentorship programs facilitated by my coaching community, all of which have contributed to my ongoing development as an advisor. We cannot be expected to have expertise in everything related to coaching and business. Whether it’s learning new coaching techniques, honing my business acumen, or exploring emerging trends in the industry, my coaching community has been instrumental in helping me stay at the top of my game.
In a nutshell, from finding camaraderie and connection to gaining fresh perspectives and insights to receiving support and encouragement, and fostering growth and development, the benefits of being part of a coaching community are immense. I strongly urge you to find and embrace the power of community and actively engage with your peers to build strong, supportive networks that uplift and empower you to thrive in our profession.

Now, Scott Lippitt works with small business owners to help them double and even triple their profit while spending little to no additional monies on marketing to do so. He also offers a program that provides advisors, consultants, and coaches with the tools, training, and support to generate a consistent flow of qualified leads and predictably convert those leads into high-paying clients ($440-$1,180 per hour!)
